Recovering lost torrents
#1
I re-installed my OS and forgot to back-up my torrents files. I did back-up my data so the files shared by the torrents are not lost. The problem is that now people can't download them from me.
What can I do?

You can convert the magnet links into torrent files:

Open the torrent files with your client and select Verify local data.

Just to add to connor17's post,

I guess you want to 're-seed' your torrents.
You have the downloaded files ('data' i.e., books, video etc), but not the .torrent files.

Assuming you are using utorrent, steps would be as follows.

1) Download the torrent the usual way from TPB, into your utorrent client; either using the magnet link or torrent link on TPB site.
2) Uncheck 'Start Torrent' in the dialog box which pops up. At any rate stop the torrent.
3) In utorrent, right click on the torrent and chose 'Advanced' > 'Set download location'. Now navigate to where your 'data' is (could be a file or directory).
4) Right click torrent (again) and select 'Force re-check'. If you have the full torrent it should show 100%.
5) Now you can start your torrent and it should seed and others will be able to download from you.

If you are using any other torrent client than utorrent, the steps would be similar; the names would be a bit different in your client.

Hope this helps. :-)
