Queer Peers in Bittorrent.
#1
When using bittorrent, I get peers whose IP (IPv6 ?) address look as follows.

Are they safe or should I add them to ipfilter.dat ?

[2001:0:5ef5:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx]
[2001:0:9d38:xxxx:xx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx]

I checked the IPs using http://www.tcpiputils.com/ and it refers to some "Regional Exchanges Oy".

I recently had some strange peer names and had to add their IPs to the filter list, just to be safe.

Side Note:
Searching the Net gave me this article titled "The Unbearable Lightness of Monitoring: Direct Monitoring in Bittorrent". I haven't tried to understand it all, but read the conclusion.

http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~tpc/Papers/P2PMonitor.pdf

Any related advice appreciated.

Thank you.

You should NOT be discriminating against gay downloade

Don't worry about those peers: those are IPV6 addresses. They're kosher. And you will be seeing more and more of them as people transition from the old style IPV4 addresses (ie. the 123.123.123.123 sort of addresses you're probably used to seeing).

Good. That is reassuring. :-)

One peer had a too familiar resolved name. It was IPv4 originating in Nam. I had to filter it out.
Likewise I had one peer named Vodafone a few days back. That's when I came by the above research paper.
