Protection from Ad Malware

To respond to the OP's actual question, I don't think anyone who knows anything about computers or ads on them doesn't block ads. So the question is sort of moot, and as others said, blocking the ads doesn't really hurt anyone's revenue, ads are either paid for in advance, or are based on people clicking on them, and the people who block them wouldn't be clicking on them in the first place.

Ads are there for fools who don't know how to block them and/or would be clicking on them, so the steps people take to protect themselves are 'not being an idiot in the first place'.

Other than that there are the obvious answers of antivirus and antimalware software. There are plenty of those. But the best protection is to never see them at all. Adblocker is probably the greatest invention for computers since they came about. Other than online porn. Smile

I have problems with people that victim blame, though. The dismissal I find irksome in the same way I find pretentiousness irksome.

You may see them as "fools", probably in the same way that a criminal sees the mark as an idiot for being able to be conned. I just want an open and easy internet and if there is something I can do or piece of advice I can give that helps the "fools", then I attempt to assist and not dismiss.

So I will say this.
Adblockers are for fools who can't use computers. If you don't use a text browser, you are an idiot. It is the best protection against advertisements, pop-ups and other droppers and is the best invention since computers came out.

Additionally. If you are not using a virtual machine. You are an idiot. I don't care about malware because I can just revert and I can make easy backups.

I hope you can see that this thought process is unproductive, radiates superiority and generally unhelpful. It also never produces innovation or new concepts and shuts down creativity.

Don't know if the report a comment button ain't working or it's already been reported ?

Look like the OP is back on the glue or whatever.

Asking what people use to protect themselves from Malvertising then calling them Fools and Idiots for not doing something You, I'm suspecting just learned from Google, isn't the way to make friends and influence people. Not everyone using the internet has "Your Knowledge" and most certainly not everyone has the Hardware capable of running in VM.

Sorry to rain on your outrage. That is exactly the point I was making.

I used to be a web developer and would sometimes get curious as to who is visiting the site or connecting to some of its contents.

Turns out a lot of information can be gathered from a simple advertisement or someone linking a picture on another website.
Information retrieval and selling of said information is big business.

LOL. You seem to be one of the fools. Too bad for you. And only pretentious people use the word pretentious, and the word irksome.

'An open and easy internet'. You may as well wish for cars that don't crash and dogs that don't bark.

Then you call people fools just like I did. After saying that was pretentious. Silly fool.

Text browsers and virtual machines. Sounds like an overcomplicated and ridiculous way to avoid malware, instead of just installing adblocking and popup blocking and antivirus software like a normal person. I've never once had to make a backup or revert to anything, because I've never let my computer be infected by anything. And let me tell you, I've been all over the web. To places that would probably destroy your text browsing virtual machine and melt your pretentious eyeballs out of their sockets.

You are the one who is preaching superiority and is wildly unhelpful to the masses of people who need adblockers and the like. Stop trying to help people and keep on sniffing that glue.
