Along with stick the RAM, I am also trying to determine if putting a Kaby Lake processor, such as the Celeron G3930, on the ASUS H110M-C is wise.
The motherboard manual says it accepts only 6th generation Intel LGA1151 Processors, and Kaby Lake processors are 7th generation processors, but there are sources that contradict that piece of information. The links are as follows:
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/H110M-C_CSM.html
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Ce...oards.html
I don't know who to believe.

Give Asus a call and ask them if you're unsure. As far as I can see there's no problems you should be able to use a 7th generation on that board.
If that is wrong then it must be a fault of Asus and their information on their site. Probably best really to either phone them, probably will get better help or just open a ticket and ask them and see if they can help you that way. It's better to speak to somebody really and hear a voice on the other end of the phone rather than just an email.
And also Robert as far as those links are concerned they are blocked for me so I can't view them. They are using anti Proxy software on their site. I'm not going to disable my Proxy either just so I can open the link, sorry.

Thank you.
Sorry about the proxy part, but I'm not telling porky pies; they have information that does contradict the information told by the manual and the sales rep.
Maybe this will help: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-...pDesk_CPU/
That information contradicts what the manual and the sales rep and it's on their site!

Don't forget though that the manual might be old now or was printed some time ago always check the date of the manual but at the same time they might have added new information into there which is based around possible firmware upgrades that support that exact socket and processor generation like you said 7th.
I must admit though there was one time when I was having trouble with a certain motherboard and I opened a ticket with Asus and asked for support and it was quite a complex problem but their answer was very poor and basic and unsupportive and I just thought that it was rubbish like some kind of crappy stock answer. Not always great who answers these tickets, could get further by a simple phone call to the nearest support center. Also not to forget that sometimes they make mistakes in these motherboard manuals and they make a mess like a lot of things people don't do their jobs right which is just a fact of life. With such complicated information knocking around on the net even companies like Asus make a mess of things. Even if you did phone them probably the person you would speak to is most likely going to answer you in regards to looking at probably the same information as what you see anyway. All they are bothered about in most cases is that they've got your money once you've bought a motherboard from them. Cos they are such a big company they sell all over the world, yes their boards are great but just watch out though for complicated information that is misleading.

You know, Rod, I think that you are a lot of things, but even God can't put it better than what you just said!

It will work totally fine but just as long as you have the firmware for the board on no earlier than the 5th of January 2017. If the firmware is newer then it's totally fine but anything with that Processor that is before that date then it will not work and won't be compatible.

I know that.
Just one question: if I do flash my BIOS, can I use a CD-R? My urge to use this comes from the fact that I lost all my flash drives!
EDIT: And is this it? https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/...pDesk_CPU/

Might be a good idea really to pop down to the local supermarket and see if you can bag yourself another flash drive or pen drive. These days the use of these things are essential. I was installing W10 the other week with a stick and to be honest it was a hell of a lot better than messing with discs. You sit there forever with CD-R or DVD. I would suggest getting yourself a new pen drive to be honest mate.

Yes, 3016 or anything beyond that is fine.
