Overheating issue. ....

So I still haven't built my new system yet and my current rig is from 7 years ago. I have a QX6850 proc and an HD7770 video card, Windows 7. I can play every game that's out but games like Resident Evil 6 overheat my cpu in about ten minutes. Even with Vsync off. I got a new cpu cooler, but it's not a great one, but was wondering would a better one help, or liquid? I just need a quick fix for a few months till I can start building the new rig.

if the fan you have now isn't getting the job done you should get a better fan/thermal compound.... but if you got the cash for a liquid set up, i'd go with that... but i wouldn't skimp on the cost of a liquid set up. you need to ensure that the flow rate is adequate enough to cool the chip and the radiator is large enough to cool the liquid.

you might want to get something with decent specs that you can use in your new box too.

That CPU runs at 130 wats . Its sucking down the power, And will put out a ton of heat when maxed out.
I would liquid cool it.
Get a H100 for around $100 and save your CPU
