Need an Onion Account
#1
I was on the demonoid.to page, and it said Demonoid is going underground, and I would need to download a binary client. I downloaded it, and it asked me for an email address. I'd rather not use a normal email address, so I searched for something TOR users would approve of. I found the site that gives instructions on starting an Onion account, and I've been reading through them. They are quite confusing to me. I've built a few computers, and I'm pretty good at it, but that has nothing to do with understanding the internet or programming. I'm no hacker, and I doubt I have that kind of ability. Looks like I need a B.SC in computer science for this stuff.

Could someone here help me get through the instructions on http://www.onionmail.info/paper.html? Where do I start? And how do you get that Putty screen? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwMxaMWeuKw)

(I didn't get any responses from another forum where I posted this. Maybe someone here can help.)

Before you try joining Demonoid, see this thread: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-Demonoi...t=demonoid

I joined a few years ago, but thanks for the info. Even if Demonoid were to disappear, I still want an onion account.

I read through the link you posted. It does look like a bit of setup overhead to setup your own server. There probably is not an alternative to this level of privacy. Looks like a good project to learn Linux off of.

Good luck!

PS: If you just want to get a onion mail account off of somebody elses server for free, then:

If you running windows then just use TOR Browser and thunderbird. You will need to setup thunderbird witha PGP addon like enigmail and install PGP on your windows machine. Just point the thunderbird proxy to your TOR Browser local port. You will still have a lot of setup/figuring todo doing it the easy way. I wonder who is offering those free onion mail accounts: FBI, NSA, CIA, or just good people trying to help us out.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING IMMEDIATELY. BE GLAD YOU DIDN'T GET IT WORKING. AND RUN A FULL ANTIVIRUS SCAN.

demonoid.to is not Demonoid, it is a scam site.

I was wondering about that. I wonder if it's a data mining site. I tried to log in to it, but it didn't work. I will watch for anything inappropriate on my PC and connections. Thanks for the heads up.

We should run a thread on sites to avoid.
