My uploads (LiNUX x265 / HEVC movie rips etc.)
#1
Oh, how I wish I could turn back time and put the x265 ripping script on GitHub from the get-go. If anyone decides to use it, I hope they will use the latest version on GitHub and not any of the outdated versions I used to bundle with my movie uploads. Some of those versions don't work at all, if I recall correctly. Cause I made changes and uploaded before testing. Then there's stuff like how IMDb has changed the code on their site so it parses differently, and the script needs to query IMDb to set a nice, properly formatted name for the output files. And then there's stuff like how the function that handles the audio didn't set a proper output bitrate if the input format was anything other than DTS-HD MA. Plus, the code is now much cleaner and more readable than it used to be.

Use the version on GitHub, if you're gonna use it. I will only include a link to the script on GitHub in my movie uploads from now on, not the actual script file itself.

In any case, here's magnet links to all my movie uploads thus far:

No, thank YOU Smile

The past month's scripting effort has paid off and I now got the whole process of making torrents and uploading them, completely automated and running smoothly. Now I feel like it's a Jenga tower and I don't want to start messing with the pieces and make the whole thing fall over. It works so I'm gonna get my OCD under control and focus on making uploads more often instead of nitpicking the code. I kinda missed being an active member of this community.

Good to see you RobertX! Happy torrenting!

Thank you, AncientRome. I skimmed through your upload thread before and saw you've been keeping busy uploading tons of quality content.

We are all needed to keep this community alive Smile

You know, cause of the number of torrents uploaded every year, it can give the impression that the torrent community is bigger than it is. I think in the end it's very few people making tons of uploads. Most normies have moved on to streaming services like Spotify and Netflix. Piracy isn't as hip as it used to be back in the days of Napster and DivX rips.

So it's good we're all doing our part!

I remember 1997 as the ultimate exit for DOS gaming.

The last DOS game I got, the last DOS game I purchased was collectively the Warcraft Battle Chest, which included the Warcraft II games and Warcraft I:Orcs and Humans.

R.I.P. DOS; it's been fun.

That seems about right, yeah.

I think if my first PC had not been a 386 that had DOS and Win3.11 on it, I would not be into commandline stuff at all. I would probably have never learned Bash.

I'm happy I got to enjoy the DOS-era games.

DOS was pretty cool but it was severely limited. That's why when Microsoft launched Windows 95 along with DirectX, all the game devs moved to Windows. Before that, they were all on DOS. Since Windows ran on top of DOS before 95, you typically tended to close Windows when running games to spare system resources.

I enjoyed Warcraft 2 at the time. It's a good game.

I'm gonna upload some more DOS games until I get bored, but unsure on what game to upload next. The criteria is it needs to have CD audio.

I almost forgot I did upload some DOS games without CD audio a while ago. The Commander Keen games Smile

I created a new DOSBox launcher script for Windows, meant for my GaYMZ DOS game torrents. It can launch DOSBox regardless of what version of DOSBox you have installed.

I never got deep into batch scripting on Windows, so I lazily hard-coded the path to the current version of DOSBox when making the old launcher. I spent some time today to learn a few batch scripting basics.

I will include the new launcher script in my GaYMZ torrents from now on.

If anyone has downloaded those torrents, feel free to replace 'start.bat' with this one.
