Multi-Boot PC Question
#1
Hi all,

I'm looking into the possibility of building a test PC with the following O/S's on it as boot options:

1. Win XP Home Edition
2. Win XP Pro
3. Win Vista x86(x32bit)
4. Win Vista x64bit
5. Win 7 x86(x32bit)
6. Win 7 x64bit
7. Win 8.1 x64bit

My question is. Will Windows allow 7 boot options. And just to say i'm not interested in VM.

Thanks in advance Big Grin,

Not what you asked but I've nearly got an old server together that has 2 quad core zeons and will have 16gb ram to run all them plus the servers from vmware. Cost so far £80 just got the memory to get and a hard drive to acquire. What I'm saying is vmware is better for testing than dual booting.

You kinda answered my next question Kingfish. I'm looking to do this build to gain experience so i can then move it to a server i'm currently trying to get together.

I usually use VM's to test but have found on more than one occasion that what may work on e.g. XP VM will have bugs on an actual XP O/S so that's my reason for looking into the multi-boot option.

You know if you install an unmodified operating systems then thats what you get so the bugs would be installed software or with the vm itself but hey its not like updates cost anything. I can't wait to get my old server up and running as logging in and out is a total pain but with 16gb ram and 2 quads I'm feeling that 4 or more virtual operating systems can be on the go usability at once with copy/paste between them.

Now that's my sort of thinking Kingfish. Post back with how you get on if that's allowed on this thread and we can swap notes Smile
