MST3K S01-S10 Subtitles

For the longest time, I've wished that there were subtitles available for the older seasons. I have a hard of hearing family member who loved the show, but can't watch anymore without subtitles. Does anyone know if the Gizmoplex has added subtitles for those early seasons, and if so, has anybody ripped them yet? (Or would anybody be willing to rip them?) Thanks!

UPDATE: Bummer. After unzipping this file, it looks like this is only a small number of episodes. I still appreciate it, but I guess I have to go back to my original question about whether there are complete subs on gizmoplex.

Unless you have the episode specifically purchased, the older seasons are streamable only. The episodes all appear to have closed captions available, but I haven't found any way to extract them using a downloader tool. they aren't embedded in the A/V file directly and nothing I've used can detect them as a separate file...

That said, if you have episodes purchased, you can download the episode as well as separate subtitle files. (At least for the random handful that I have access to.)

So.... if you buy all the season packs, you can download all the subtitles.

*edit... well.. I stand corrected. I haven't tried in a long time, but it seems like yt-dlp is actually working with the gizmoplex now. Let me fudge around and see what I can get.

**edit2 - tried it on a few random episodes and it's looking like yt-dlp can grab the subs. it'll take me awhile to set up a big ol batch file, but I'll grab all the subs i can and post a pack at some point.

I had no luck with YT-DLP either, but there is a way to get the subtitles.



1. Open the browser developer tools window.

2. Go to the network tab and filter for vtt at the top.

3. Select the episode on the Gizmoplex, enable subtitles and play the episode.

3. Go back to the developer tools and there should be one entry. Luckily they are not streamed or else they would come in multiple small parts. Right click and select copy value --> copy url.

4. Paste the url into a new tab and save the page.


I have been considering doing this, but with 150 or so episodes it gets quite tedious. I do not have the skills to automate the process.

Here's all of the S01-S10 subtitles available on the gizmoplex. Please note, not all of the older episodes have CC's (nearly all did, but anything "missing" from this archive is not available at the source). I thought at first that yt-dlp goofed or a network error might have happened since I did it all in a script, but I verified one by one with the "missing" ones that they actually do not exist. Even playing those episodes the normal way in the web browser, there's no option to turn on CCs.

I did notice something interesting. Unless I'm mistaken, Season 9, Episode 13 - Quest of the Delta Knights, has never been made available on DVD, but this episode is currently on the gizmoplex (and had subs). Has this episode been released in one of the volume sets and I've just missed it this entire time?
