MP3 Players [Standalone] High Capacity
#11
This is what I got. It was all about storage capacity. iTunes sucks IMHO. I did try WMP with an plug-in - http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/ - [ a trial, 19.95USD to keep] that works.

At the moment, I'm using Foobar with a plug-in - iPod Manager - because it has more options than WMP. i.e. I can map certain fields such as dates next to my album names, and, track numbers next to song titles. These things are not displayed by default with iPod. But, this plug-in makes it possible. The downside is this plug-in is no longer in development, But, this is not an issue with the iPod Classic because it really has not been modified much since 2009! LOL

Ultimately, Foobar is playlist-based, and I want an interface that is more like WMP but with more features. And, Foobar, has another plug-in, Facets, that allows this, but with the added features that WMP lacks.

For all I know, I may try MediaMonkey? It has a plug-in that allows iPod use as well.

I forgot foobar, but it is a pretty thoroughly customizable player, you may be able to tweak it to work like WMP. And beyond MediaMonkey, try MusicBee or doubletwist if you are unsatisfied with Foobar2000. The lack of development of the ipod classic means there's tons of options (maybe none are perfect, though).

And yeah, iTunes is awful, a disgrace. I only use it because I do use ios devices and I've been using it since before it existed (SoundJam days), and I know the ins and outs, and generally can get it to do what I want. Plus, services like GoogleMusic read the library very easily and keep my cloud music in sync with what I have.
