Limit file types for DVDR categories
#1
I know the audio category does/did limit file types to MP3, FLAC, etc. I believe the same thing needs to be done in the DVDR categories - limit to .ISO, .IMG, etc, the valid disc image file types. Scanning the categories this evening it seemed like 90% at least of the torrents in DVDR should have been uploaded to the Movies category - there's no way a disc image of a movie will be 650MB. DVDR is not intended to be a shorthand for DVD-Rip which is what most of the torrents in the DVDR categories seem to be.

We only impose restrictions when there is a real problem.

Moderators move torrents when they are uploaded to the wrong category, and talk to individual uploaders if necessary, so they have a pretty good feel for what is going on. And they're not agitated about excessive work in that area.

And I've just taken a look at the first five pages of the category (ie. the latest torrents) and out of 150 torrents only 2 were below a GB. The rest looked OK.

Maybe a cartoon released on CD, but not a full-length (hour or more) film in an ISO image .

But were they ISO or IMG  or other disc image format (sorry I don't have them all memorized)? If it's an mp4 or mov or mkv etc it's a rip and should be in the categories set aside for those files.
If it wasn't done for audio I wouldn't have suggested it, but if I'm looking for a complete disc image - one not compressed or "massaged" by whoever is doing the rip - it seems to me the DVDR category should be the place to go.

the R in DVDR stands for replica, not rip.

I didn't look that closely but my point is that the moderators spend a lot more time looking for, and fixing, mistakes made by uploaders than you or I, and none of them share your opinion that there is a significant ongoing problem.

Correct. And if you find any mp4's or mov's or mkv's in DVDR, report them and they will be moved.

If  that proves an excessive amount of work for mods, a restriction might be imposed. But we don't impose globally binding restrictions based on nothing but the unsupported opinions of individual downloaders.
