CNN Wrote:Florida auctioneer was about to sell an 1800s pocket watch. He learned it was a stolen piece of US presidential history

(CNN)  — A pocket watch that belonged to Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt was returned to his New York home this week after it was stolen decades ago and later showed up at an auction, according to the FBI and the National Park Service.

Roosevelt’s sister, Corinne Roosevelt Robinson, and his brother-in-law, Douglas Robinson Jr., gifted him the watch just before he left for the Spanish-American War in Cuba in 1898, according to the park service.

On the inside of the watch reads the inscription: “THEODORE ROOSEVELT FROM D.R. AND C.R.R.” the park service said.

The silver watch traveled with him during the war, while hunting in Africa and exploring the Amazon in South America, according to the park service.

After the 26th president’s death in 1919, his watch was kept as a memento and eventually given to the park service to be put on display at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site on Long Island.

In 1971, the watch was loaned out, initially on a six-year term which was later extended, to the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site in Buffalo, New York.

But on July 21, 1987, the watch was stolen from the site, where it was last seen on display at the site’s Ansley Wilcox House in Buffalo.

It wasn’t until last year when the watch reappeared 36 years later at an auction in Florida, the park service said. The auctioneer realized whose pocket watch it was and contacted the historical sites and the park service.

The park service and FBI then got involved and worked together to verify the watch was the former president’s stolen watch from 1987.

“The repatriation of the watch would not have been possible without the close collaboration between the FBI and NPS,” FBI Special Agent Robert Giczy said in a news release Thursday. “This partnership ensured that this historic treasure could be returned safely for future generations to enjoy.”

The watch, described by the FBI as a Waltham 17 jewel watch, was returned Thursday to New York to be placed at Roosevelt’s home at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and can be viewed by the public for the next three months.

It was never determined who stole the watch from the display and how it eventually ended up in Florida, according to the park service.

CNN’s Ashley R. Williams contributed to this report.

Ya'll see stories like this all the time and it just gets me angrier than a hornet! Other than showing up to pick up the pocket watch, they did absolutely nothing.

Now, right here: “The repatriation of the watch would not have been possible without the close collaboration between the FBI and NPS,” they are picking their words carefully, but how about, "repatriation would not have been possible without the close attention of the unknown auctioneer who contacted the feds in the first place."

I read stories like this all the time. "Drugs were reported found on the beach by tourists," and then the cops claim "Through inter-agency cooperation, these drugs were kept off the streets..". My eye! They should be thanking the drug smugglers for losing their cargo, because that is what kept it off the streets. I have to pay out the ass for Cocaine and now I know why! It's not the cops catching the smugglers, it's the smugglers being bad at their jobs!

It's medicinal

And that's not the point. How long are we going to let these clowns take credit for things that they had little to no part in?

We got a little saying where I'm from: "You can't pluck yourself a chicken without expecting biscuits."

Dear concerned citizen, you're right. As public servants, the police officers have to play the politicians game, by the public opinion measures. It is sad, but it is.
The worst part is: You know that, we know that, and many people won't see or just care.

Here my thanks to someone who did the right thing, probably at his own expense - Thank you good, sir/madam. It's all we can do. Don't forget to vote for sheriff.

It looks like they make the auctioneer to be a mere whistleblower, but the FBI the real experts making a ruling. It's all a part of fake news, as really any police agency is a fraud anyways. Maybe puff peice articles like this help keep the zombies in line with the police are authorities that are to be believed without question, motive. Ah, well

Here's another gem:lacity.gov Wrote:"On June 30, 2021, the 27th Street neighborhood suffered the repercussions of the mishandling of a large quantity of illegal fireworks by members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Explosives Unit, or Bomb Squad. Chief Michel Moore states, 'The Los Angeles Police Department remains committed to supporting these residents and working with elected officials and City administrators through the completion of the 27th Street Neighborhood restoration. This neighborhood is resilient, and we will continue the work of repairing our relationship with this community we have sworn to protect and serve'"....

Mishandling? The police's professional explosive experts blew up these people's homes and then say that those people are resilient?

How the fuck are fireworks even that dangerous? When I was a kid, we were setting off mortars, sparklers and whistling bungholes and no one got hurt because we were experienced in using them. Sure, every now and then there was news of fires and kids losing fingers and all but not that big a deal in the grand scheme of life. But now, oh boy, now the only time you hear about fireworks causing chaos is when the police are involved.

Just saying, but for some people everything funny can sound gay, no offence. Nowadays, modern times, gay is trendy.

Just a dumb comment. Like many other of my dumb comments. And back when we were kids, we'd shoot roman candles at each other.
