K-Lite Codecs: What does it Stand for?
#1
Does the K-Lite codec pack honour the existence of Kazaa Lite of the old days?

If not, why is it so-named in the familiar?

A techie question... so I have no clue (I run windows, remember> LOL)

But it looks like what you say about it being named for being familliar may be true.

check this out
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-Lite_Codec_Pack

It says if you mean the Kazaa pack, then to click elsewhere. If it was not the same then it wouldn;t be under seperate things... That would be my guess

Yea, these two have nothing in common.

I can't find any real information for old each name is, but the K-Lite Codec Pack has had the name at least since 2.79 (2006)
The K-Lite version of Kazaa Lite appears to have appeared around the same time.

To be honest, even though I used Kazaa and similar program back in 2003-2004, I've never heard of the K-lite client until today, and I have used K-Lite Coded Pack since 2009
