this was terrible, and i'm not just talking about the movie. it isn't comedy to just point out how something is bad when it's so bad that we all know it's objectively universally bad. is it really asking so much for the movie to be an actual movie, and not just things a camcorder is pointed at? entries like this makes me glad i'm a member of this site because this was not worth paying for. is rifftrax not interested in expanding their business, instead of just getting money from the defcon-1 weirdos? according to their sign-off at the end of every riff, they supposedly are. there is so much for them to choose from, why scrape the very bottom of such a deep barrel? this was like watching someone step on ants. why not send art critics into an elementary school classroom to pick apart children's thanksgiving hand-sketch turkeys? why not send rolling stone to review your high school garage band? no one watched mst3k because they were like "i can't wait to just watch something terrible, and have the "comedy" be ppl pointing out how it's terrible". where was the comedic value in this supposed to be?

Fungicide. Plankton. Things. Baby Ghost. Copper Mountain. Winterbeast. And on and on and on.... I'm sure many riffs that I like are hated by others and riffs they like are hated by me, the old "too each his own" but so many of the guys recent movies are intolerable to watch. I bought Jurassic Shark and couldn't get through 25 mins before shutting it off. For good. Not taking a second look, and thats the main problem to me : Rifftrax used to do a lot of "great" b-movies that deserve second, third and fourth viewings, becoming entrenched in riffing legend. That's stopped. Many recently can't even make the single viewing mark. I think they just rely on fanboys/girls believing everything they do is great and if it's REALLY BAD they'll love it. I don't. You hit the mark on this travesty Ikjhgfdsa, and sadly it sums up the current "Let somebody else pick the movie, let somebody else write the riffs, and us 3 will go into the studio and tell everyone how stupid this movie is" system of riffing.

I agree 100%.  I wrote this in January and I still believe it holds true:

According to the "My Account" page on Rifftrax.com I've been a member for over 15 years, a Founding Traxian member, and a Founding Drip member and in that time the quality has fallen to the point of embarrassment.  It probably doesn't help that most of the writing isn't done by Bill or Kevin anymore.  It almost seems like they're just actors paid to read lines whether or not they're funny. I know I've said this before but The Film Crew and their riffing of Hollywood movies era was the height for them.

If anything I've uploaded to the site or the requests I've fulfilled has helped you (not you specifically) then do this experiment for me please.  Watch the The Two Towers and/or The Return of the King (If you need them) and when it's all over I want you to tell me that the same company that created those is the same company that exists now.

I had a blast with this one, I really thought they would throw in a twist with that kid rowing the boat showing up at the end missing a leg and throwing shurikens at the shark or something but the real twist is that nothing happened.

And you know the guys are slowing inching their way toward Shark Exorcist... its happening at some point, its has to

am I the only one who thinks the guys were not in the same room to record this ? especially Mike, he sounds like he was added to it later, idk. (scheduling difficulties, perhaps). I'm not complaining just pointing it out

On the Talkin' Rifftrax for this episode, he's not there because he's out sick so he might not have been.

I loved it! Although, bear in mind, I've seen Rollergator like a dozen times...

Well, let's face it, the "film" was weak on many levels not even suffered by Baby Ghost, which at least *tried* to add charm in several ways.  Better to try and fail then not try at all, which was the case with this "shark" film.  Not a lot to work with, but the available list of films like "Bride of the Gorilla" etc. versus films like Jurassic Sharkish Embarrassment are dwindling.  So you start w/a film that offers almost nothing to work with, then you have (according to the credits) millennials writing most of the jokes, and you'll end up with "this".

Gen Y (like Kate McKinnon) can be quite funny, but "millennials" (like Pete Davidson) rarely are.  Even if they are of the same age.  Kate McKinnon = wagyu beef.  Millennial = white castle slider on a bad day.

It all comes down to *effort* .

"Kevin and Bill stuck around after recording their lines for our latest VOD release, Jurassic Shark! (Mike recorded his later once he had recovered.)

Enjoy!"
