At least two Syrians were killed early Monday after an Israeli attack targeted the capital Damascus, according to the Syrian official news agency.
"The Israeli enemy launched an aerial attack from the direction of southern Beirut, targeting several sites in the Damascus neighborhood," a military source told SANA, at approximately 5:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) on Monday.
"The air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed most of them," the source reported.
It said that two individuals were killed in the attack and there was also property damage.
Three Syrian soldiers were killed late last month when an Israeli missile attacked Damascus-area targets.
Israel has carried out several strikes in Syria, primarily against forces loyal to Bashar al-administration Assad's and Iranian-backed militias.
