Interested in movie bonus-discs and extras...?

Curious if there are others who are interested in the bonus/extra material/discs that come with most movies.

I'd like to start a group (or subforum) on the collection of such, as there hasn't been much released in the area.

Good topic.

I, too, am a little dismayed for a lack of discussion about bonus materials in movies, TV shows, and the like.

Bonus materials are a good reason as to why I would buy the movie, though not entirely.

However, I wouldn't just download (although I did collect them) them off torrents; I just buy retails if I felt the need to.

I have bought quite a few DVDs with extras. These times, however, even if you found a DVD that you want to watch, like Fight Club or Scarface, you won't find extras. A good place to look might be in secondhand stores. Stores like HMV don't have them anymore. If anything, it's all on Blu-Rays. I don't have a BR Player, so I am at a total disadvantage.

Thanks. And likewise, I am bluray player-less -- hence why I'd like to start a group. I'm curious how much demand there would be for such -- it's comforting to know there's at least another Smile

Well, starting a subforum on bonus materials isn't bad, it's just that it's an open field for it.

As you can see, extras exist for movies, music, games, books, and novels.

When you said "group," do you mean "release group?" The Pirate Bay already has some extras. Look for them in DVD-R images. If you're looking for, say, Star Trek extras, the TPB user "Toilet Sniffer" has all of them except The Original Series and the Animated Series. However, you can probably get the aforementioned anywhere.

When I did download all the Trek DVD series, I too got the bonus materials. However, I developed respect for the creators (Paramount/CBS), ditched the bonus materials, and just kept the episodes. I might re-download them one day, but only time will tell.

As I in my first post of this thread, it is a good topic.

Thanks. I wasn't meaning a release group, but rather, either a subforum, or an entire site dedicated to such. But I imagine there might not be enough demand for the latter.

I think the benefit of starting something "collective" is that it shows there's an interest and demand for movie extras, bonus discs, commentary tracks, etc. Currently, like you mentioned, there are some extras available -- especially more recently. But it still seems sporadic.

If there was an entire subforum or site created, however, I think it would accrue interest and activity, even amongst the average "home" user to help the cause.

And thanks for the heads up, however, I was referring to the most recent Star Trek movie -- "Into Darkness" -- which there seems to be a void of extras/bonus material from such. I wager it's due to the scatterbrained, hodgepodge release of extras, with the movie studio "sprinkling" them across 4-5 different blurays and releases across the world, making it all but impossible to see them all unless you buy 4-5 different blurays from different countries,

...or torrent those bitches.

WOW -- I must say -- for anyone looking for extras, bonus content, commentary tracks, and high quality 1080p rips of movies, look no further --

@vonRicht is here!

The guy is releasing some serious quality, in addition to a smorgasbord of extras, bonus material, HD/TrueHD audio, NON-CROPPED movies and extras. Looks like this guy is taking the cake right out from underneath my idea Smile (of a group dedicated to releasing extras/bonus/commentary content)

But of course, any and all help in this department benefits all!

Or maybe you're referring to yourself in the third person!

I love the vonRicht releases as well. Everything about them is pure class.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get in touch with vonRicht? And if it is possible, how? I have a question regarding a recent release of his/her...

* I need to add that I can't leave comments on The Pirate Bay
