Obviously can't happen, but I think Norm Macdonald would've been a blast. For someone a bit more, you know, alive - how about Eric Idle?
If you had 1 wish... Which guest riffer?

This may be a bit odd, but Billy Connolly! the Scottish comedian.
I would definitely want to see that happen.

Mike had a story about how getting Norm was basically a Craigslist missed connection for them several years ago. It almost happened.
I think I'd love to hear Jim Gaffigan riff some stuff. But . . . please tell me I'm not the only one that has fantasized about getting to be a guest riffer. If I'm alone in that, I'll go ahead and delete my account.

Martin Short. Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Dan Levy. John Oliver. And from the dearly departed column? The legendary Jonathan Winters!!

Whilst I respect your opinion, please no to Martin Short. The man is a living line of the cocaine. He'd take over the entire thing and just steamroll the rest of the cast. Kinda like Robin Williams. Well, okay, maybe I'd be okay with this. As a ONE TIME thing. Maybe. I've never even considered a guest riffer. Sorry Torgo. My pick? Pete Davidson. Or Che. Michael that is. I really do not have an SNL fetish, but to see those guys riff flicks might be great. Maybe? Honourable mention goes to Gaffigan and Bert Kreischer. The Machine riffing some Soviet era flick would be the tits.

Won't repeat previous entries. But what a beautiful & sublime question, itsizz, and thank you for asking it.
Phyllis Diller, Bill Hicks, Urzila Carlson, Paul Lynde, Flip Wilson, Ali Wong, Chris Rock (pre 1998), Spalding Gray, Oscar Wilde, Mary Coustas (she riffed a sword/sandals film successfully & hilariously), Redd Foxx, Judy Tenuta, Ronny Chieng, early 1940's Lucille Ball, 1990's Sandra Bernhard, Laura Kightlinger, Don Rickles, Courage (the dog puppet), and Adam Reed, since that's more than enough for now.

Good question! I'd go Ricky Gervais. Sure it might become a disaster but he goes into another gear during those so that would be hilarious in itself.

Also: Dylan Moran, Rowan Atkinson, Kitty Flannagan, Mae West, Matt Berry, Richard Ayoade, Noel & Julian from The Boosh, David Mitchell, Katherine Ryan, and (sorry) Jeff Ross, Jon Lovitz, and Jennifer Saunders (from circa 1992).

I think Bill Burr would kill it

They've had him on for live shorts, but I'd love for Paul F. Tompkins to do a full-blown feature length riff with them. He's so good at it. Easily my favorite comedian of all time.
