I'm a newbie

Hi everybody. I'm a newbie so I'll post a new post to say hello to everyone. I don't know what to discuss, so I'll create a slightly unrelated topic. What do you think about the war between Russia and Ukraine

I think it's a damn shame that Putin lost the plot.

According to reliable sources, even the Russians are starting to see the light and not blinded by it.

The younger ones anyway...

I like Russia, I was there a few years ago really nice place and nice people (if you can speak their language, otherwise confusing)..

What do I think about the war between Russia and Ukraine?

I think that Putin has had enough of the left wing politics that has emerged recently especially in the west which includes everybody and Biden especially and I believe he wants impact against the terrible economy that everybody has been facing in Europe and other places.  I believe that Putin is making political stand against this and that he wants to take the Ukraine back and reform the Soviet Union again.  Ukraine is a big country (in size) and he wants it back like the old days and it has lots to offer like Minerals and Fossil fuels.  This whole thing is down to money it's what the Kremlin wants...

Also I would say that it's not wise to mess with Russia either they have the most powerful nuclear arms in the world.  They could take out a big city like London or New York with ease and destroy those places in seconds and kill 8 million people just like that.  I don't believe Russia will do anything like this.  I personally blame people like Biden for walking away from places like Afghanistan and causing a lot of mess.

I just think that Russia is just interested in Ukraine and want it back that's all, it's all down to Money and nothing else.  If people will try and stand in their way then they are going to get killed.  I'm not sure about what NATO want but I think to attack Russia in a big way is very foolish.  The people of Russia don't want all this but it seems like to me that Putin wants change and he's determined to get it.  Don't buy into what the Media are telling you because they make a lot of drama on the TV to make it seem worse and make you scared.  If the USA and Russia wanted to blow each other up then I'm sure they could do that very quickly I don't think they are going to do that it will be very stupid.

Think whatever you want about the whole thing but there's always 2 sides to every story and the Media right now want to make Putin look as bad as possible and they will do everything they can to achieve their goal.

No disrespect, but bombing a building where people live in is just wrong.

Do you think that's the right way of taking back a country as you so eloquently put it?

I just replied Robert to the OP, they asked what I thought so I said what I think.  The only reason I said what I said is because that's how I see it.  I'm not on anybody's side, neither Russians or Ukrainians.  It seems to me that these things get out of hand, they start off small and progress and get bigger.  The whole point is that if you want change well there's a price to pay and the people who get in the way of that will eventually be killed that's what fighting is all about.  I don't endorse fighting but if Putin has no choice to do anything else but then I'm sorry to say that going against the West and against all this nonsense of how the economy has ended up then what is necessary is necessary.  The politics was messed up quite a number of months ago so it's nothing new.  Only a matter of time before things get out of control like it has.  There's always 2 sides to every story but sadly we haven't heard much from the Russian side only the side of Ukraine.  Remember they was all the Sovient Union at one point so the Ukraine hasn't been like it has for very long about 20 years that's all.  If anything it's politics that are messed up but without borders between countries then people could roam free and do as they want so it's a no win situation.  If the UK want to fight against Russia then I think that is very foolish because Russia are literally the most powerful nation along with the USA.  Biden is like a bag of wind the stuff he says, an old man that doesn't make good decisions is not a good way to run a country.

I'd rather that there would be no fighting.

After the pandemic, imperialism, and everything in between, the last thing we need is a contest on how anyone can bomb us all in the stone age.

I'm sure you'll agree with me there.

Well I've just been having a sniff around Wikipedia for a while to see what I can learn.  The whole subject regarding Russia seems mega complicated.  Where to begin, I haven't a clue.  It seems that Russia are a big player in the world.  They have lots of natural resources and natural gas supplies.  The amount that they can control is pretty huge.  I think personally going against Russia is completely stupid.  Also they export a lot of arms and have massive production in the world of weapons.  How foolish to go against these guys.  I have been over there, just the one time, but what I saw there was quite eye opening the place is huge and it is the biggest place in Europe as it has the biggest European part of Russia in Europe and Ukraine is the second biggest place in Europe.  Again foolish to get involved, 2 of the biggest places in Europe fighting between each other.  As far as I can see the Soviet Union all ended back in 1991 I'm quite shocked I thought it was much later on afterwards.

There's a lot of billionaires live in Russia and I'm not surprised.  They also produce a lot of cars and all sorts of things, military weapons including the biggest bomb on the planet which could flatten a giant city like New York in a few moments a bit like having the heat of the sun on planet earth it would just literally fry everything around it.  Really just so foolish to make a stand against these guys.  Us here in the UK, we are nothing, we have left the European Union now and we are independent which is why we wanted the whole brexit thing.

I just say pay careful attention towards what you see on TV and hear on the radio.  The Media they love to tell stories to scare people in the best way possible.  They did all this with the Covid-19 thing and they're doing it again now this time with Ukraine.  They have moved on from one thing to another it gives them something to talk and report about.  All this falling out though it's nothing new, it's been going on for a while, but I don't fully understand it plus the fact their language is all strange compared to English or English in Northern America.

It just seems silly to cut everybody off whether it's Russia cutting the west off or the UK and the UK cutting off Russia because they are a major player and get all the gas supplies we need for heating.  Russia has a lot to offer the world.  There is brief information on Wiki about the invasion in Ukraine but not all that much detail.  Have a look around if you want yourself to see what you might learn.  It's very complicated though and sorry I'm not the smartest and sharpest tool in the shed but sometimes I try to have a bit of a read.  Russia have just got so much already they seem greedy I guess and want to make change.  I don't agree with killing people but it's a war so it's the same as many other wars.

Can you believe there's actually more people live in Bangladesh than in Russia which is ridiculous when you think about the size of the country and how spread out it is.

OK, no point of continuing this conversation.

I'll just take a hike from here...

Ah, this war is complete nonsense, and unreasonable, but sadly even tho most russians are fed up with putin and his idiotical politics (and of course are against the war) they aren't going to riots nor rallies, if there are not enough people - fair amount of them will get arrested or beat up by the crooked police. I always say - gather enough people, the police will migrate to the people's side. A prominent russian political figure has once said that putin's game will end in mid 20's, let's see if it comes true.

Now about Ukraine: even IF putin succeeds with taking it up fully and installing there his puppet gov, the remaining ukrainians won't like it and sooner or later will overthrow it.
