Hidding .torrents in images
#1
Hi,

I was wondering if piratebay would be still illegal if we had .torrent files hidden in images (posters) using steganography ?

This feature would be easy to integrate into torrent clients so users don't have to use separate software.

Magnet links are still illegal I think because they point to illegal content, but images would have only last bits of every byte changed so theoretically images alone would not be illegal ?

Also: why not QR links that point to magnets?

Torrent files aren't illegal.

Magnet links aren't illegal.

Image files with embedded metadata aren't illegal.

QR codes aren't illegal.

Sharing files isn't illegal.

Sharing copyrighted content you don't have a license to distribute is what gets you into trouble.

Honestly though, I fail to see the logic in this suggestion. Whether it be a torrent file, magnet link, image or QR code: if it all points to the same content there is no difference. If one were to be determined "illegal" they would all be "illegal."

My point was that it would be harder to close down the site which has only images. Because now they are closing new domains because of magnets / torrents ??

No, it wouldn't. It doesn't matter how you link to content. If it is infringing and popular, it will be targeted.

Don't hijack your own thread. If you want to discuss something different, start a new thread.

And it would only work on a small-scale website. On TPB it would only be obvious

No matter what TPB does at this point, it's going to be "illegal", and changing how the files are shared illegally isn't going to change what it is.
