Im interested in the specifics of how folks here are searching/finding the items they look for.

Good torrent sites?
Specific news browser applications?
are there better usenet services than others?

Corrupted file from the usenet are causing us issues. I believe my friend is not using SABnzbd and using the browser packaged with whatever usenet service itself.
Are corrupted files more efficiently dealt with in SABnzbd or othe sophisticated news browser?
Are corrupted files more efficiently dealt with with different providers?

Are there any solutions for corrupted files on the friggen usenet?

as i recall qbittorrent for example allows you to verify a file that finished but wasnt really finished.
my current torrent client will NOT do that. it makes me start over if its fucked up.
this makes me -hope some usenet browsers are better than others for heavy users.

we have tried qbittorrent and it either fails searching altogether or succeeds but there is no way to know what new torrents are there to search for as on a torrent site. that fact makes qbittorrents search engine -mostly useless to me.

I use QB for my torrent client, but I've been using Jackett for my searches. It integrates right into your browser and lets you search a ton of torrent trackers at once. I also have a legacy account with the Snahp forums from before they went private, and that's been where I get most of my stuff these days.

SABNZBD will download parity files if they were posted, repair the bad files and extract the files for you. There are user guides out there like this one to help you set it up.

As for usenet providers. Tweak and Cubenet are good. The best time to subscribe is when they have there Black Friday deals. You can find the deals posted on Reddit in groups like r/usenet before Black Friday. Here's some examples.

Usenet might be old school, but it delivers.

Also subscribing to a good indexer is a must. DrunkenSlug and NZBgeek are good. They will also have Black Friday deals too.

Black Friday isn't that far away, DrunkenSlug will open up by then. Also nzb.su is a good usenet/newsgroups indexer.
