I don't recall ever seeing any of the official MST3K episodes posted on this site or anywhere.
I'm referring the 100+ available here on rifftrax site:
https://www.rifftrax.com/mst3k
These should be easy to spot with mike's new intros for each episode.
How is the quality of thees versions compared to the torrent circulating or DVD's?
Are there better versions available elsewhere?
Who can post MITCHEL or other episodes for comparison?

I don't know for a fact, but I always assumed that they were the same as the DVDs. I haven't seen any that are available in HD, just HighTV, so I can't imagine that they'd be an improvement over DVD rips.
But I could be wrong... it's been known to happen.

it would have made sense to re encode/professionally upscale -slightly when they released these on rifftrax site.
no one ever mentions these versions from what ive heard.
rifftrax has do good upscaleing on some releases. I would think these MST re releases would warrant some extra love.

They aren't any better than what bsg4you is sharing in the stickied thread, all the newer official releases come from those dvds i think

I've done a side-by-side comparison, they are from the same source and are worse quality than what bsg4you has put together as RiffTrax was more concerned with device compatability than quality.

I think the only real official upscale I've seen was when they did the livestream for Pumaman a little while back. They actually did some AI upscaling for that and it looked pretty good. I haven't heard anything about them continuing that with other event movies, though. I hope they do.

"stickied threads" = top of page 1 under IMPORTANT THREADS, just above NORMAL THREADS

I found it strange that they didn't announce upscaled prints for any of the other "Tribute To" events that they release once a month on the Gizmoplex. They also post a half dozen "Synthia Selects" versions of classic MST3K episodes every month based on a theme. Those have Synthia pretend to host a talk show and ask one of the bots or Emily or Jonah one silly question before the episode starts, have one brief host sketch in the middle, and include those short commercials from the Rifftrax sponsors that got their commercials as part of their rewards. None of those episodes have been upscaled either. For some reason, they only did it with Pumaman but maybe someone donated the upscale, and Joel and his people aren't actually the ones who did it. Or maybe it was a test and select upscaled episodes are something else they plan on monetizing in the future.
Does anyone know if Joel got the rights back to any of the episodes that weren't released on DVD? An official version of any of those episodes would be an upgrade over the bsg4you versions which were sourced from YouTube and vary quite a bit in quality.

It was an outside party that had upscaled other stuff and worked with the Gizmoplex for the Pumaman episode. I would have thought it was well-received. I thought it looked noticeably better than the DVD version. Maybe the financials just weren't there to do it on an ongoing basis with them? Ideally, they'd bring them in-house and work through the catalog.
I haven't heard of any new episodes getting official availability. The last big "get" was when they were able to release the Gamera movies some years back on the DVD set.
