Free or cheap SMS/Phone Number?
#1
Hi

TL : DR - I need free or cheap virtual SMS service for one off verification for email accounts etc and can't find any that work?

I have hit a brick wall....

I have multiple email accounts and gmail accounts for different uses like different types of forums and youtube accounts etc (which have to be gmail).

I'm locked out of some of my accounts because all of a sudden they started demanding a phone number verification which I don't want to do, and besides I only have one phone number.

I've spent a long time searching for and trying different free sms services and none of them work - I especially need it to work for gmail/google.

They obviously have banned most the free services phone numbers that are used.

I'll consider paying for a service but the ones i've seen are crazy expensive and thats just for one number.

I need 5-10, so need to be affordable for one off use or ideally something where i can keep changing the number for the account?

I really really hope someone has some ideas here as I'm all out?

To be clear - I'm in Australia and we simply do not have burner phones/numbers like they do in the US.
If you want a phone sim card or a phone - you literally have to show ID to buy them.
Otherwise I'd just do that.

Thank you for your help

Hey there,

The only thing is - I find it hard to believe that Google would allow you to use their own service's virtual phone number to register new gmail's?

Have you used it to make new ones or just attached them to your old ones?

I just want them for the one of verifications they demand

More importantly - I just tried to sign up and it says:

"You must have an existing US-based mobile or landline phone number to qualify."

So that kind of rules this out unless someone I don't know in the US is gonna help me out with that?

The whole point of trying to get a service with a phone number is to be anonymous and not have it tied to me or my normal accounts.
Eg I use these for paying for vpns and things like that where I don't want a paper trail to my real ID.

Still love to hear other options that'll work with Google and others just in case this doesn't work?

Thank you.

You should check this: https://globfone.com/send-text-online/

You don't register for an account per se, you just enter the number and send a message.

You can do it locally and internationally.
