Forum downtime
#1
Apologies for our extended down time.

It took a little while to get a hold of the server admin. As referenced here, the downtime was a result of a nasty hack job. Near as we can tell, it was the host server itself that got hit, rather than the forum virtual machine.

We restored from a backup taken a few days before the server went offline, so a few of the most recent posts and threads will be missing.

We took some time to upgrade to the latest MyBB version, and do some other long needed updates.

All of that done in our limited free time, hence the long delay getting back online.

This isn't the first time we've had an extended outage, and it probably won't be the last.

We've come back every time, and that won't change.

If you come across any fresh bugs, let us know.

MOE: multiple thanks for getting us all back! I know it's a bitch of a task to recover from a hack, so thanks to you and everyone else for the dedication to getting the forum back on track.

Thanks, Moe.  No worries personally but if it is a sign of something that matters there is missing content for some posts in "Promote Your Shares".  I have problem in both Firefox and Brave.

And you know...  penis

There will be some missing content. The forum had to be restored from a backup, so all activity that took place after the backup was lost.

Yup, figured. It was missing much older stuff earlier. But all hamsters are running at full speed now!  Thanks again.

Yes, there was a crash 'n' burn nine years ago.  There were no working backups available that time, so all prior threads and data were lost and everyone had to re-register.
