Finland is preparing to launch the fastest supercomputer

The fastest supercomputer in Europe is planned to be launched in Finland, it may become available to users from September, according to the website of the European Commission, according to Gazeta.ru.

The EC stressed that the European Joint Venture for High Performance Computing (EuroHPC) will present its latest supercomputer Lumi, located in Kajaani, Finland.

Lumi, according to the organization, is the most energy-efficient supercomputer in Europe.

At the same time, the expected peak performance of Lumi could be 550 petaflops. We are talking about 550 million billion calculations per second.
It is planned that this computer contributes to obtaining new knowledge and solving global social problems.

Earlier Intel vice-president Raja Koduri stated that the future computers will be 1000 times more powerful than the current ones. According to him, in addition to computer hardware, new software architectures and algorithms will be required.
