Fireflies in the Garden (2008) - 6.6
The Taylor family is devastated by an accident that takes place on the day their matriarch is due to graduate from college -- decades after leaving to raise her children.

The title of the movie, is the title of a poem by Robert Frost. I think it is simply great that the director Dennis Lee could convert this into a full 2 hr movie. If you like slow melodramatic movies with piano going ploink ploink, you will like it. I enjoyed this movie very much. It is a very simple story, but beautifully scripted and directed.

Interpretation, obtained from one website.
Frost consistently weaved his faith into his work, this poem is no different. I think that the fireflies represent us, here on earth, and the star represents Christ, up in Heaven. Though we are not perfect, we strive for a Christ-like representation of his love. We "were never really stars at heart" but that's okay, because we "achieve at times a very star-like start." Because of our sin, we cannot "sustain the part," the part being emulating Christ's love.

Decently done. Worth 1 watch. Full of mildly creepy moments. Anne Hathaway, creepy Patrick Wilson, David Morse.
Filming Locations : Shot in Canada I believe. Thought some of you might like this info.

Just finished watching Gravity. Spectacular.
