Feature-complete TPB without JavaScript
#1
TPB works tremendously well without JavaScript, but there are some issues. For example, only last comment page can be loaded. I did some research and this is actually the only issue so far, but would be really nice to get it fixed.
Disabling JS is a must to avoid browser fingerprinting, I don't want to get caught uploading recent Blu-Rays on the release day. Every ISP in Finland must block The Pirate Bay, many seem to use Tor Browser to access the site and JavaScript is disabled by  default.

I'm not sure if Pirate Bay needs JS in the first place, I've always loved TPB because the website is so lightweight.

The only other issue I'm aware of is commenting--you cannot post a comment without js.

Viewing the file list requires JS as well.

JS is also needed if you want to upload something.

Does voting work? 150 views and only one vote, mine. Sad

The functionality works but since we won't even look at the results let alone give a fuck I assume people don't bother voting.

Also in this case it's a stupid question: no site needs JavaScript but the TPB devs have chosen to use it and they're not going to stop using it so anyone who wants to make full use of the site needs JavaScript support enabled.

I've successfully uploaded and commented with JavaScript disabled in the past few
days. None of the core features of TPB seem to depend on JS, although the ad popups
do—I assume this is one of the reasons the site uses it at all.

Asking for the justification behind using scripting on a site is not a stupid question.
Responses like “the TPB devs have chosen to use it and they're not going to stop”
make a Suggestions section look pointless.

No, you haven't. You're either delusional or trolling.

But by all means post the exact steps you followed so that anyone who believes you can try to reproduce the miracle you claim to have performed.

Consult a dictionary before you post again: a "suggestions" section is for people to put forward ideas for consideration. All ideas suggested are considered: some of them are implemented, some of them aren't. Some of them are just plain stupid but that's not in our opinion a good enough reason for us to try to prevent people from making them.

But allowing stupid suggestions to be posted doesn't mean we cannot or should not point out that they're stupid, particularly when people choose to push the matter by questioning why nobody is supporting them.

With Mozilla Firefox, forbid JavaScript globally with NoScript and upload a torrent.
While the captcha complains, the scriptless copy/paste version works as expected
and the torrent is posted.

Sid, enjoy squeaking on your molehill.  I’m sure your useful commentary is
a great source of encouragement to the file-sharing community.

It may work for uploading, I never said it didn't, but you claimed you commented and I know for a fact that's impossible.
