Soulcity, I'm just wondering actually how come you have posted the link to the https:// site?  That https:// has been down pretty much the whole time now for weeks.

I'm wondering if it's ever going to come back anytime soon, it would have been better if you had posted the Onion address instead because then at least people could follow your link.  At the moment can't follow anything on https:// because the thing has been down now for ages.

If it comes back at some point then maybe it's a reason to celebrate cos then maybe I might get some more hits myself then.  On the TOR alone there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity...

https downtime is regional.

You should see an onion link with the https link unless you have javascript turned off.

Ahh yes Thanks Moe... I see that it's working now.  I was just trying a server in the Washington DC area and it worked just fine.  The TPB has been showing though for weeks and weeks now that https:// would be out of operation for quite some time.  I've been checking it for ages and I just thought that things might change and start showing the green dot in the column.  Washington DC loaded just fine, I don't tend to bother with a lot of servers like that usually so didn't reallise that it was all regional I thought that it was down for everybody until the https:// was brought back up again.  Was thinking it could have been something along the lines of a Cloudflare issue.

It's just an address you can use instead of using the normal browser address.  If you run TOR on your computer you can access the address "uj3wazyk5u4hnvtk.onion" to load up the site.  I guess the idea is that if the https:// site is down for some reason then you can connect to the Onion address instead.  If there is failure but like Moe said it is totally regional so that means depending on which part of the world you are connecting to, means that it will be available.  I have used TOR a lot recently to gain access to TPB, like for uploading.  I'm glad I mentioned it because otherwise I wouldn't have known.  As far as things were before that I was using a certain region that wasn't working with the https:// address like you have posted the link to so therefore it was unavailable at the time.

I know what it is.. I just didn't know what the "onion" link was.
Besides thepiratebay.asia is much easier than TOR

@soulcity:

I think the main idea behind using TOR is to avoid being watched by your Internet Provider.  I'm not sure what kind of protection that you take in order to hide your activities and it's not really any of my business but I just hope that you do take precautions.

There is a lot of different proxy sites around for TPB.  A lot of them aren't really operated by any of the TPB people, more like just proxies that are controlled by other people that will help you bypass blocks and such.

I did learn though from what Moe said about the reason why the https:// server was actually a lot to do with which part of the globe you are at.  I know this kind of thing has been discussed before but just didn't realise that the actual location where I was using my own proxy was actually not able to access the http:// server and has been for several weeks.

The Onion address is all over the forum page on here, like at the bottom and on the TPB status, you can't miss it really.  Just good to have a secondary way to connecting to the bay so at least there's different ways of downloading files like you have suggested.
