Dialogue quiet and action scenes loud?

Is there something I can do about this?  I'm saving the movies on a computer and then watching on tv with the Roku media player (which I hate).

Thanks!

GOM player has a normalizer feature, which, if I understand it correctly, is supposed to do what you need, which is to say bring the lowest sounds and the loudest sounds closer to eachother, towards the middle.

normalize is the same as maximize. meaning that the overall volume gets boosted till the clipping point. it's different from dynamic range compression, which lowers the amplitude.
