Crypto Mining
#1
According to this post, it looks like TPB does some crypto mining while we browse torrents.  I kind of have the opposite question everyone else has-- how can I be sure that I am mining while browsing?  Is there a specific process I should look for in Task Manager on Windows?

Thanks!

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where to put it.)

You will be mined when browsing because a script is open as you view the page.  If you don't want to be mined and choose to have no mining while you browse then simply just use a script blocker in your browser and then you can choose whether or not you want this to happen each time you use the site.

If you want to upload something that's different you will find that if using a script blocker the upload page won't work correctly so you will have to deactivate the script blocker in order to upload successfully.

I don't know much about Scripts as I'm not much of a programmer and I've never written any but if you think of it this way, you can add these things onto your site so that traffic on the site generates lots of crypto mining so then you can at least earn some bitcoin while your site is in operation.  If you think of it this way, the sites that people use like TPB have running costs so if the site is quite a popular one which in this case it is then it's a good idea as the owner to try and get a bit of crypto mining to help fund your site in the long run.

We all have a choice really, you don't need to worry about Crypto mining too much and how it works just simply the fact that you're helping to contribute to the running costs of the site by being a spectator of the site.  If you find that you think the site is good and helpful then by all means help to use your computer in the support of the owners, if not then simply just block this process.  It is a choice we all have and the choice of freedom of the internet.

A script blocking browser add on can be toggled on and off in seconds so you can tailor make your entire browsing experience to suit your own needs in whichever way you feel necessary.  At the end of the day, someone's got to pay so really if you're a regular at using the site make your own choice of what exactly you want to do and don't worry too much about how it all works as everybody is in the same position.

Ah, yes, thank you. I'm sorry, what I meant was I want to make sure that I'm supporting the site by mining. Is there a good way to make sure that my browser is indeed mining while browsing?

You will most likely hear your computer rev up as the processor will be doing more work and the fans will probably spin up more and go faster.  It tends to use more electric and that's where the mining comes into play, the owners will gather revenue from these simple indicators.

Well it's true really support the site cos I don't know what I'd do without this place, can't seem to rely on other sites much as they are usually having problems.  I was using Demonoid a while ago but it's all gone down which sucks as it's usually not a bad place over there.  If it wasn't for TPB then I'd have nowhere to host my torrents and I'd just be sat here wondering what to do.

Yep, same. Sorry, I didn't mean to end that post with a "?".

I've tried to make my own tracker before, so I can really appreciate that TPB gives us theirs at no cost. I'm happy to mine a little crypto for 'em.

As far as I know , you can block mining using UBlockOrigin or any other blockers around.
