OK. Well, anyone can close this thread; I found what I was looking for.
A lot of those "commercial pirates" only make it look "legit" for their ads. When you get the discs, they were invariably hand-written in jewel cases, or even just plastic sleeves. You MIGHT get a badly printed sleeve for each disc, or if its a complete run of a show or similar, the discs may just come in a cake pot.
I spent over a decade making a good living selling copies of films, albums, and games, and the guys selling who made too much of an effort, had the fewest customers. They would definitely be making the least money, as they had more overheads cos of printer ink, paper, nicer cases, etc.
Plus, the more legit you make it, the harder they can come down on you if you get busted, as you've broken more laws doing fancy cases with sleeves and inserts and labels.
