Cd/DVD Labels
#1
Hi
This is my first but not my last post.

So I wasn't too sure where I should ask my first question which is while looking for an actual CD or DVD covers all I keep coming up with are DVD inserts or Jackets and not the actual labels that you find on the cd or DVD you see inside the box.

Over the years (I'm 80 now) I've collected thousands of films and when people ask me for a certain title I ask for some kind of medium to put it on. ie.....disc or USB drive. I'd like to give them the actual disc instead so I need plenty of covers to stick on the CDs/DVDs. Another idea to pass the time in my old age.

Are there search engines for this, I haven't tried this before so I don't know what's out there, That's why I'm here.

Thanks for your help

Michael

The problem is that as far as I understand there was lots of good sites that used to be around.  Very bad news I'm afraid all those sites were removed.  There used to be lots and lots of great covers whether it was CD or DVD.  Now since a few years back non of those sites are around and it's a real shame.  I used to myself get covers from certain sites and it was very handy, I used to be able to get so many CD covers but then came a point where all those sites were taken down and gone as simple as that.

All I can suggest now is try and find a torrent where you can get the cover.  The days of very large search engines containing thousands of covers are gone.  I ended up myself just buying the disc and then doing it that way and scanning them myself into a flatbed scanner.  At least doing it that way you can make the job a real good effort.  Sometimes people used to get covers and upload them and put them at a slant so you found yourself having to realign them properly in photoshop or something like that.

Things were cool about 10 years ago and before that which is why I stopped messing around with music and started doing films because the whole entire 'Covers' scene went under.  You might find certain things these days but the choice is very disappointing, okay so you can still get DVD covers but DVD isn't popular now so it's really pointless people move on with the times onto better quality formats and disregard formats like DVD.  Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but it's more a reality check to keep you aware than anything and thanks for taking your time to post...

Ah, Rodney Rodney, I wondered where you'd end up after the partnership broke up and Del Boy said farewell to Mandella House down there in Peckham, and here you are making us all so sad with tales of CD sites vanishing off the face of the earth. Well, I'll have to think of something else to sell on eBay (I was tempted to sell the films by putting them onto cheap USB Drives, but haven't seen anyone else doing the same thing.) now that I can't find any labels to put on my DVDs. What's the world coming to?
I'm grateful for your reply Rodney although I did find a couple of sites through NrKNrK 2 links so not all's lost. I did think of buying the disc and scanning it and getting the cover that way or going to my local library and taking out the DVD I wanted from their lending library but it seemed like a long-winded way of doing it. I did see an article about downloading the cover from Amazon. I'll have another look for that and put a link in the post if your interested.

Thanks again for the reply.
