In these two versions of windows 8:

Windows 8.1 Pro VL / OEM / KMS/OEM-Activated
Windows 8.1 Pro N VL / OEM / KMS/OEM-Activated

Can someone tell me what, "N", "VL", "KMS" stand for?


Also does anyone know if I'm able to use the windows update feature inside windows 8 with this release without being flagged as having unauthorized/non-genuine windows 8 copy?

N is for the European markets which doesn't include the media market. They lost a court case eons ago and had to remove the embedded media player for those markets.

Working on the VL and kms...

edit: KMS is for Key Management Service while VL looks like is "Volume Licensing" I'm trying to find some example sites but they're all timing out for me currently. The library is having issues today it appears,....
