Can anyone help with Mysql

Anyone able to help a complete newb fetch some data from a mysql database using PDO ?
I'm also trying to do the same thing with mysqli_query to little success. Honestly I haven't had any luck beyond connecting to the database

Please explain fully what you intend to do.
If it's not for everyone's eyes and ears, PM me. I've done some work with MySQL before, although that was more than a decade ago...
