Hi, I just downloaded Blender, a 3D graphics program, and I want to learn about it.
Are there any books that might help me do that?
Thanks.

No disrespect, but I didn't want a "reference guide," more like a tutorial to start me on an early work.
But if there's nothing else, I'll check that out.
Thankyou.
You know what? Fuck that.
I'll indeed check your link.
Now, if I wanted to start off sharpening my skills, what should I do? I'd throw money away with education, but considering the situation...
Well, thanks anyways, ill88eagle; a pleasure to receive your help as always.

Why don't you look for video tut's on youtube? I am sure there are plenty
Also, the problem with a blender book is that it will be outdated - the stuff on the manual homepage is maintained by the community.
Here's a torrent of Blender for dummies though, latest edition: https://thepiratebay.org/description.php?id=36774796
No offense meant

Ah damn, I just downloaded the manual, all 150MB of it!
Fine, I'll check your dummies book. Non taken, Dummies books are a product of smart people for smart people.
Doing stuff the hard way is not always the point, and I will indeed check it out.
Thank you.
About the video tutorials, well... that that can help, but I rarely like to rely on anything that I can't archive, but I'll use it for last resort.
OK, off to playing badminton.

The thing about FOSS stuff like blender is that it gets updated with new features added all the time. So in a year or so, your blender for dummies 4rth edition will be deprecated while the online manual will still be up to date.
Also, you can still archive youtube vids with youtube-dl and/or jdownloader

OK, well, it's just that my computer's external hard drive is in need of an upgrade (figuratively) and then I will.
Now, should I burn it to DVD and watch it on my TV, or should I watch it on the computer?
Oh, just finished my fix of playing badminton in my apartment jail cell. I'm telling you, if you can't play sports outside, do it inside your living space.
Anyhow, I guess if I do get the hang of using the software, I am out of the woods; I can just run with the knowledge and put more skills into my repertoire, so I just need one piece of tutorial/documentation and the sky's the limit.
Point being? I'll take your advice to read the Dummies guide. Besides, Dummies guides upgrade ever once in a while and will serve me well.
Thank you, ill88eagle, you gave me the answers when no one else did. Again, thanks!
By the way, do you use Blender?

I do have another question while we wait until my last question gets answered: if I use Blender, 3D Studio, or any rendering program, should I already have made an illustration or image scanned beforehand for rendering?

There are video tutorials in the Other section on TPB.
I thought it was just a cloud service, but there is a portableversion at
https://blender-portable.en.uptodown.com...s/download
The Blender site offers only a small binary, which is a signal of one of those despicable 'downloader' utilities.
Look for a 'samples' directory in the util, though there should be some in tutorials. Also be aware that some 3D software requires more modern hardware, and/or more than normal memory, especially on video cards. Some may require more modern processor instructions.
The portable version tells me it needs a card and drivers capable of OpenGL3.3.

Now answer my last question.
