What do you recommend to play with your gf/bf/friend or friends for a LAN party?
I personally loved to play with my gf Borderlands 2, Saints Row 2 & 3, Civilization and Portal 2.
Would like to try Left 4 dead, Pay Day, Dead Island, Dead Rising, and definitely Divinity: Original Sin - was fun even in singleplayer.

LAN party! People still do that?
Back in the day, we play Starcraft Brood War with human players vs. computer opponents. When I told my friends how to play on MAME32, we played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
There are also other games that I install on my computers in case a visitor wants to play LAN like Unreal Tournament 2004. To play on pirated copies, you need to set your firewall to not let the game software contact the home server.
Other honourable mentions include DOS games like Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, and Warcraft II; more honourable mentions include Diablo one and two, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Homeworld (two doesn't work on Windows 7 though).
Now how did you get all the other games that you mentioned to work on a LAN, if any?
EDIT: And welcome to SuprBay.

awww, SC BW, good old times
Anyway, I really love to play RPGs when it comes to LAN, Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Siege, Diablo, Torchlight, and some more which I can't remember.
I love the exploration, trading items with your pals, fighting against lots and lots of mobs together, or against a boss.

Werzog, you might also want to play Rise Of the Triad: Dark War that was made in the 90s, get it here: http://thepiratebay.se/search/Rise%20of%...GOG/0/99/0
Likewise, the same franchise, but also a reboot, try this one: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/8764764/R...d-RELOADED
EDIT: Before you ask "what this has to do with this thread," I'll tell you. Dark War is old, but the LAN mode is fruitful as there are arena stages full of booby traps and moving blades. The new ROTT is among the few that actually has LAN mode, at all for that matter.

Thanks, will try it
Yes, I am old. I remember playing Heroes III as a child with a bunch of friends, endlessly waiting for the end of their turns...still, it was fun
The great thing about LAN parties s that you can do so asocial activities as playing games (and yes, even playing WoW with more people than you IRL know) - social .
No hard feeling, I love it too.
Drink and/or smoke something, listen to music, chat and play - heaven .

That's a pretty good recommendation.
The graphics are great compared to anything made in its era, though the gameplay has too many things to learn. I just want to command a thousand Zerglings to destroy the enemy.
Zero Hour is the Expansion Set to Command and Conquer Generals, so install that before Zero Hour.

You know, Werzog, Pokemon can be a nice multiplayer game that can be played on a LAN. You just need an emulator with LAN options like VisualBoy Advance or NO$GMB.
As well, if you're not going to play the original Brood War, you can emulate Starcraft 64 for Nintendo 64. (Yes, they have it for that system)
EDIT: I erred about NO$GMB having LAN. They don't, but you can still play multiplayer.
