BayFiles Wiped From Google
#1
[Image: bayfiles-logo1.png]Nearly three years ago Pirate Bay founders Fredrik Neij and Peter Sunde launched Bayfiles, a new file-sharing venture.

The site has been growing ever since and has accumulated a steady user base. Instead of using P2P transfers, Bayfiles users can upload and download large files directly from the site.

Besides some issues with their payment provider, Bayfiles hasn’t run into any significant problems to date. However, very recently the site suffered a setback after it became impossible to reach through Google.

Without explanation, Google wiped all of the tens of thousands of Bayfiles links from its search index. The search results below show that the file-hosting service is no longer featured as the top result and a more specific search reveals that all of the site’s URLs have been wiped.

No Bayfiles in Google

TorrentFreak spoke with the Bayfiles team who have no clue what’s going on. Their robots.txt allows the site to be indexed and other search engines such as Bing do so just fine.

“Perhaps they don’t like filehosting services that can’t be cut off from their payment provider, as we no longer have paid accounts,” the Bayfiles team suggests.

Bayfiles never had a lot of traffic from search engines so there is no major impact on visitor numbers. Still, it’s never good to have your entire service removed by Google.

The most likely explanation is that Google found Bayfiles guilty of some sort of violation for which the site has been removed from Google as a penalty. What type of violation that might be remains a mystery to the site’s operators.

Penalty or not, Bayfiles will continue to serve files all around the world, free of charge.

the united state's dmca crap* you mean.

the reason google lists the chilling effect's link whenever a link is removed due to a dmca request is because google does not like being told what to do by the man any more than you probably do.

in order to protect itself from being sued for facilitating the illegal sharing of copyrighted content, google has no choice but to comply with united state's laws as it is operating on united state's soil.

while i don't put it past google to voluntarily remove content that hinders their objectives and market shares... they are in business to make money, but in all fairness, dmca requests are a problem of society and primarily a problem of everyone who has a right to vote. when our elected leaders passed the dmca legislation, we had the right to vote the asshats out of office... but we didn't.

as for removing the bayfile links, my guess is that something forced them to.

Perhaps as a general swath "Google Search Tools", including the famous search engine, down ranked the site, based on the traffic it got where *advertisers* were willing to pay money towards, and due to the *SIZE* of us/uk/ca/au/za traffic to GOOGLE engine in english, it is further down the list?

However, I found on this reputation site, a score of 100 out of 100.

(Not sure if it is covered in above posts.)

Google's 'Transparency Reports' give some details. Found this section on Google a while back, when another site vanished.

One reason what this crap has happened is because Google new fight against pornos .Many sites like the old good megaporn host a lot of porn stuff that is still protected by copyright.

Consider also that the new CEO for the Technology in USA is the google vice president (conflict of interests of course no lol) you would make 2+2 and see how they're going to start a whole tyranny to control anythng about the net. They're going to grant their ass lickers cleaning their search from unwanted "illegal" stuff.

This is just the first step to the whole control. The big Brother is awaking. Google glasses, google drones, google controlling technology in a continent that actually leads the marketing and that is going to make a world war 3 just to confirm its leadership over other nations.
