Any good IT/development places
#1
Anybody know of good (permissive, but curated) places for developer/IT tools and info?

All of the places I used to know of for such things have dried up or disappeared.

Tell us about "some of the places you know of" so we won't recommend sites that you already been to, starting from The Pirate Bay, although you can try libgen.io and techbooksforfree.com.

There are some places that provide free classroom/student hall lectures all around the world like EDX: www.edx.org. I'm not sure if you can get a real degree there, but it's worth looking.

And do try xHOBBiTx's upload thread: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-xHOBBiT...nts-Thread. Lots of tutorial torrents.

Hope this helps.

EdX is pretty sweet and I am familiar with that.  I do think they can actually give you a degree at MIT (of course that isn't free -- but you could audit all those courses for free, so that is quite a service they're providing).  Didn't know about that tutorials thread, I will take a look at that.  Likewise techbooksforfree.

As for places I'm familiar with, you're kinda putting me on the spot there, but I suppose for me the "model" -- the thing I really miss having -- was the good old days of usenet -- and before that fidonet (yes, I'm old) -- when there used to be huge aggregations of people sharing ideas and various binary payloads, mostly for the thrill of figuring out how things worked, and without a ton of respect paid to any particular government/institution's intellectual property rules.
