Hi to everyone reading this who works to make TPB happen.
I have tried to set up an account so that I can thank uploaders. However, I cannot confirm the registration link for whatever reason. Every time I try there is an issue. This is why I have decided to post this here.
I recently heard about a film that I was very interested in seeing. I searched and found that only two people were seeding, however, this was clearly enough to download, therefore, I was extremely grateful. I wanted to be able to thank the couple of seeders in the comments (whether they would ever read it or not). I felt it was important to keep this particular documentary seeding due to the nature of its content and was disappointed that it may run out of seeders shortly (obviously, I will seed too), but grateful for the couple of people who were just about keeping it going.
When I first started with TPB, I had no idea how to comment. I know this sounds dumb but I didn't know anything about the internet. I only knew how to use TPB basics as someone had shown me. All of the terminology such as leeching and seeding etc was totally foreign to me. I had no idea what it all meant! I now navigate the internet at an average user level and have learned a great deal since starting out two years ago.
TPB has been a wonderful resource for myself to gain knowledge from the internet in many areas when I have no budget to do so. I felt that it was important to thank all of those who put in the time, effort and money to make this amazing resource available to myself.
I speak very honestly when I say - the knowledge gained whilst having access to the internet has changed my life. I don't think anyone who has been brought up with the internet can imagine the frustration of searching through book after book for the information required. It's how I was brought up. I have always had a curious mind so I would keep many books around that I hadn't read so that if the compulsion to learn about a new subject took me, I had some point of reference. Can anyone imagine the disappointment of so badly wanting to know about something but then realising you don't have the book that you thought you did or the detail just isn't there? Or your interest involves into a sub category but you didn't pick up that particular book on the sub category for whatever reason?? Any time I want to know something now, I just 'google it' until I am totally satisfied with the subject. I can allow the search to take me this way and that way, without any fear of not being able to 'scratch the itch' or being left completely frustrated. I can even watch free films and download free books on the subject. This still feels like magic to me!
If I could thank individual uploaders through the comments then I would. Originally I didn't know how to and now I am experiencing difficulty in completing the registration. May be I will get this resolved one day and be able to comment, rate and more importantly thank, a few years after starting out!
I hope this post gets reaches those that it is aimed for.
