I'm making my stand with the Bandit
In 1977 the movie Star wars came out.
It amazed everyone how well it did and the majority of its fan base was comprised of the following:
* The very young
* Social progressives
* Technology/computer enthusiasts
* Homosexuals, with slightly more being lesbian.
Star Wars stayed at the top of the box office charts until another movie released that appealed to another set of Americans.
That movies was Smokey and the Bandit.
It was popular among the following groups
* Young adult males
* Country music lovers
* Car enthusiasts
* Housewives
* Social Conservatives
* Factory workers, skilled laborers and tradesmen

Depends on what you are in the mood for I suppose...
Smokey and the Bandit was reflective of what was cool for a particular time, whereas Star Wars was a Si-fi story that stood the test of time.
Smokey is still cool, don't get me wrong, but it has to be watched now with a bit of cheese... I can't pick a favorite between the 2... Apples an Oranges

Like most Sci-Fi Star wars for me is "Meh." I'll watch it if there's nothing else to watch.
On the other hand I just recently found out about Smokey and the Bandit and I can watch that movie over and over again.

Both are very fictional: One can't ride a "poney" like in old desert prairies time. It's drone and database now, and soon V8 cruisers and interceptors will be gone. Then it's a matter of choosing which fantasy delights you more, fits your mood better, and poses less risk.

You know at first when I heard these so-called visionaries talking about immersing people inside a matrix fantasy in order to live their lives as they wish my reaction was
*** NO... F'N..... Way!!! ****
Now I'm looking at the world and all the bull that's going on in it and I think I would be the first person in line to be immersed and just drop out from reality.

At least made your choice knowing the truth. I somewhat "died" like Mouse did, with his fictional guns blazing at Quixotesque nothings...
I'd go with Death Proof and the recente (Baby) Driver incarnation.

You know that's a good question.
If you had to enter the Matrix for the rest of your life and it had to be based on a movie... What movie would you chose?

"The filthy rich nerdy who secretly scored the head entire cheerleader squad first." would be my first choice, but nobody made such a film.
Hollywood hates nerds, probably because it's run by a bunch of real gluteum cavities.
"The day Adolf Dueda defeated Kirk and Earth stood still!" is my second choice, but again, filmmakers have no taste.
"Alice" (new version) - I would be the cat.

I've thought about it.
I'm going to say Top Gun would be my #1 choice
But then Back to the Future because with a time machine I could to other periods just if I didn't like the 80s.
