Magnet Links and uTorrent - help please?

i'm just curious how you people use the magnet links?
i use win7, chrome and uTorrent.

i can click on it in TPB and chrome asks me to 'launch the application' which is cool.
uTorrent launches and it shows the file with seeds and peers.
however, i cannot see the 'files' or the 'size' and 'avail' is always 0.0000 even if it connects a few peers.

is there a way to use magnet links JUST LIKE torrents, where i can choose the folder its downloaded into, and set what files i want (if its a split file or entire season).

and it seems to take a long time to connect, any hints for that?

You have to give it a few minutes (just a few, it shouldn't take more than 5-10 mins at most) for utorrent to retrieve the torrent file from the peers. Then it will display the files and begin downloading as normal.

No, I've kept in running for 1 hour 30 minutes & it's still unable to retrieve the file information & no data downloaded till now though I can see a lot of peers. Even I have added publicbt & openbittorrent trackers but no success. I am using utorrent 1.8.4, please suggest.

The magnet link will simply bring you the torrent file from a peer in a swarm, rather than downloading it from a web site such as TPB.
The issue of picking the best tracker to use in the swarm remains the same as before. The default tracker on the top of the tracker list may not be the one that you want to use.

Post a link to the torrent you are trying to download and I'll try it.

Here it is, it's still not downloaded anything even the file information is not retrieved. Thanks to all for all of of your comments trying to help me.

I have this question too. I can not choose the folder for download, when I use magnet links. I tryed to change some options, but without results. So what`s wrong with my uTorrent? What shall i do to choose folder, when i download torrents with magnet links?

In a bit of a rush...skfg64...I'll get to that soon...NuWi...you can't...the nature of the way the links work makes that impossible. You have to let it download the torrent file first (at which point the files tab will be populated) then you can select files for "do not download".

Adapa thank you, but what do you mean is impossible? To choose download location? Thats the main problem.
