Yeah most do, but there are some that aren't so egotistical.

Barry Sanders

Even though he established himself as one of the premier running backs in NFL history, Sanders never allowed his fame to control him. He was known throughout his entire career as a humble player, rarely seen celebrating after a touchdown, but preferring to congratulate his teammates.

Really really good point. He's definitely a great guy, and possibly one of the best running backs ever.

I would probably say Roger Federer, Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. Hard to choose one though.

He is an exceptionally good tennis player but I've been let down by some of his recent performances. For example, 08 Wimbledon Final - It shouldve been Roddicks...

And Federer isnt really the greatest athlete of all time...

You stubborn lil fella Tongue

____

Some pretty good points raised about how there are different ones in different categories...

But hypothetically what qualities would you expect from the greatest athlete?
Athletic power like Phelps? Charisma like Ali? Skill like Federer? Just general good play like Jordan and many others? And now ask yourself which athlete has the most of these (not just the ones I mentioned)...Cool

In the sport of UFC.

He is to the UFC like Elvis is to rock and roll.

I am not even going to debate it.

The trouble with doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

An athlete is a person who participates regularly in a sport. I think, an athlete knows how to play all the games, right?

I think for me it's either Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods both are phenomenal on their respective sports. They're one of a kind. Smile
