auto play .iso mounted image?
I have searched everywhere and can't figure out if it's even possible to get an application that I have mounted with power iso to auto play. When I click on the virtual drive where the image is mounted to it just opens the folder and shows me all of the files that were on the cd that I copied into this image. I have tried the auto play option by clicking properties for the drive but as far as i can tell the only options I'm able to chose to auto play (using windows xp) is music, pictures, and video files. It doesn't say anything about software cd, there is an option for mixed content but the only option it gives for that is to open the file folder, take no action, or to burn with nero.
Extra Info:
*I need it to auto play like it would when putting in the original cd.
My computer isn't reading cd's or dvd's when I put them in this is why I have to try to mount it.
I made an image file of my windows cd on another computer, saved it online so that I was able to download it onto my computer so that I could try reformatting my computer because I can't figure out any other way to reformat it without being able to use the dvd player.
Without being able to get it to auto play the files won't run in the right order.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

RE: auto play .iso mounted image?
Are you sure the image you're mounting is suppose to autoplay ? I'm not using PowerISO but I'm guessing there is a setting that says "open" or browse", etc. Although, I had this problem when I created an image, but I manage to get an autoplay working using a bat that was launching a html page, see : http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5081010/[RNL]_Adobe_CS4_EasyMod

You could try it... but isn't faster/easier to get a dvd player than an internet connection ?

RE: auto play .iso mounted image?
Is there a valid autoplay.inf file in the root of the image you are mounting?

I don't understand how you think this could work--you can't reformat a computer while you are using it (to run Windows to run a mounting program to mount your image).

Are you talking about reinstalling the OS?

You need to change the boot order, Place the OS disk in the drive; shut the machine; restart, before anything loads, hit F12; change the settings to make the machine look to the dvd or cd rive on startup; let start up continue, the computer will now look to the dvd/cd first and begin the install process.

If you're dvd drive doesn't work, you could try reinstalling windows from a usb key.

(yes I made sure there's an autoplay.inf file in there)

I can't believe I didn't think about that, I was thinking if it'll run off the dvd drive then the virtual drive would be the same but if I'm reinstalling windows the virtual drive would not be there anymore to read the rest of the files would it? I've just been trying to figure out what else I could do to reformat the computer so it'll go back to the old settings so my dvd player and the usb and sd card readers will work. I installed a bunch of stuff that messed up my settings and uninstalling the stuff didn't fix the settings and doing system restore didn't fix it so the only thing i can think of is reformatting but it looks like i can't do that without dvd drive or usb working.
Thanks for all of your comments.

What error (if any) do you get when you put the CDs in the optical drive?
Have you tried re-installing the generic CDROM driver? If you get "cdrom.sys missing or corrupted" there is a Regedit to fix that error.
